About Evon
Evon Davis is a 120-year-old magical being who lives in a hobbit house in the forest, but occasionally comes out into the civilized world to interact with humans because, as she says, ”you are all such fascinating creatures.”
She discovered books, now her favorite mind-altering controlled substance, specifically science-fiction at the age of 11 with a copy of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which she read while hiding it in her lap under the desk as her sixth-grade teacher read Lord of the Rings aloud. So aliens and hobbits have become intimately intertwined in her neural networks. Her love of reading started with Arthur C. Clark and Kurt Vonnegut and became an obsession as she addictively consumed volumes on existentialism, evolution theory, memoirs and biographies, street signs in foreign countries, occult literature, and anything else that might finally help her figure out why the hell humans exist on planet Earth in the Milky Way Galaxy in the first place!
Her inability to cook means she spends a lot of time at Souper Salad, yet is the inventor of the Tofu-Alfalfa sandwich, loved by her vegan daughter, Sarina. She enjoys spicy foods, especially the kind that make the skin on her scalp crawl.
Her favorite books include Journey to Ixtlan by Carlos Castaneda, Moon Magic and The Goat Foot God by Dion Fortune (really anything by Dion Fortune), and any of Paulo Coelho’s books. She has recently discovered a couple of favorites in the genre of urban fantasy: Sixty-One Nails by Mike Shevdon and Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. She also loves the Avalon books by Marion Zimmer Bradley and the Earthsea books by Ursula K. LeGuin.
Her mission is to change the world one reader at a time. As a social anarchist, she believes in freedom and social responsibility, and that one of the most effective ways to bring about change is through the avante guard of artists and cultural creatives.
Her religion is Expansionism. She made it up. You can join her if you like. It means you devote yourself to expanding your consciousness, always staying open-minded, always curious about everything, thinking like a true scientist. Everything is a hypothesis. Experiment. Explore. See life as an Adventure. Observe. Express your uniqueness. Live your passions. Love to the fullest.
And read.
